Educator and Mentor, Juanita L. Martinez, Demonstrates Commitment to the Students of Washington Intermediate
Ms. Martinez named VIP of the Year by Cambridge Who's Who Publishing
RED OAK, IA, January 04, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Juanita L. Martinez, Coach and Intermediate Educator for the fourth-grade students of Red Oak Community Schools Washington Intermediate, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in education.
Educator, coach and role model, Juanita L. Martinez, brings to her position at Washington Intermediate the kind of dedication and commitment seldom present in public education. With nearly 37 years of experience in academics, she works closely with fourth-grade students to teach a variety of subjects, including language arts, literacy, mathematics and science. She also performs student evaluations and holds parent teacher conferences so as to effectively network between pupils, educational professionals and parents. In addition to her classroom responsibilities, Ms. Martinez also coaches cheerleading boys' and girls' tennis teams. Currently she works as a lifeguard. In the past, she coached cheerleading for two decades, and was a Jazzercise instructor.
Ms. Martinez, who credits her own success to the support of her mentors, makes a conscious effort to mentor her students. She forms unique interpersonal relationships with all of the children, and establishes a solid working rapport with them in an effort to provide the highest quality educational services. Ms. Martinez explained to Cambridge Who's Who in a recent interview that very often, her former students return to visit her - sometimes years later. She considers having the opportunity to reconnect with her students to be particularly rewarding and is honored to have the privilege of teaching their children as well.
A graduate of Central College in Pella, Iowa, Ms. Martinez holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts, plus 40 credit hours. She is a member of the District Technology Committee and the Grading Systems Committee of Red Oak Community Schools, and is an affiliate of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Ms. Martinez resides in Red Oak and dedicates her accomplishments to her husband, Dan, her children, Aubrey and Danielle, and her esteemed colleagues, Marlys Conrad, Sandy Olson, Fran Pleak, Sarah Crisp, and Sandra Guinn.
