Marlene E. Day, M.Ed. profiled in Cambridge Publishing's "Top 101 Industry Experts" book
OLD ORCHARD BEACH, ME, August 11, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marlene E. Day, M.Ed., Teacher at Loranger Middle School, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in education.
Marlene E. Day has worked for the Old Orchard Beach School Department for 32 years. Since 1997, she has been teaching reading, mathematics, spelling, language, social studies and science to fifth-grade students - all the while utilizing novel instruction methods to relay difficult or confusing concepts. Due to her vast skills in numerous disciplines, including regular district-wide curriculum and religious education, Ms. Day is able to adjust her teaching style to suit students' particular needs, based on their responses to curriculum. As she explains it, "I seem to have a knack for working with students who need more help academically or behaviorally to be successful and I pull from my knowledge in different areas to do so." She enjoys the intimate and personal atmosphere that daily contact with students affords her, and prefers being in the classroom over to working in an administrative position.
Highlights of Ms. Day's career have included attending an educational leadership seminar at the National University of Ireland, Galway and Whitelands College in London, being recognized as a world leader at World Youth Day in Rome, Italy in 2000, and creating a study guide for graduate students that was published in the Library of Congress. Ms. Day was named Teacher of the Year by the State of Maine in 1983. Most recently, she was selected for inclusion in Cambridge Publishing's "Top 101 Industry Experts" book. The Top Industry Experts reveal the objectives and triumphs prominent Cambridge members have achieved to gain success. Selected from more than 400,000 executives, professionals and entrepreneurs, these exemplary leaders stay at the top of their fields by possessing unique experience and wisdom, all the while exhibiting innovation in their work.
Ms. Day holds a master of science in literacy education, plus 15 credits, from the University of Southern Maine and a bachelor of science in elementary education from the University of Maine. She is a member of Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and Phi Delta Kappa International.
