Ann Adele Alexander recognized for her ability to maximize the academic potentials of special needs students

LAFAYETTE, LA, July 01, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ann Adele Alexander, Special Education Teacher for the Lafayette Parish School System, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of education.

From an early age, Ann Adele Alexander believed that it was her calling to teach children with special needs. Her convictions have since driven her to help hundreds of academically challenged children over the course of her 35-year career. Ms. Alexander is hereby honored for her profound contribution to the field of special education. Recognized in the academic community for her patience and dedication, Ms. Alexander strives to maximize the personal and professional potentials of special needs students. She is known to thrive in the face of challenges and build meaningful and long-lasting relationships with students and their parents. She has taught behavioral and learning disabled children in sixth and seventh grades in the fields of mathematics, science and social studies for 29 years in the Lafayette Parish School System, where she utilizes techniques that both motivate students and maximize their learning abilities.

Prior to joining the Lafayette Parish School System, Ms. Alexander worked as a fourth-grade teacher in Iberia, Louisiana, and as a reading specialist in Dodge, Kansas. She was honored as a semi-finalist for the Middle School Teacher of the Year award by the Lafayette Education Foundation in 2000, and chosen as Teacher of the Year in Carencro Middle School from 1989 to 1990. More recently, Ms. Alexander was recognized by Cambridge Who's Who as it's 2009 Professional of the Year in Education, and was chosen out of over 400,000 professional members to be featured in "Cambridge Publishing's Top 101 Industry Experts." For such achieved recognition, Ms. Alexander notes that her deep understanding of her students has served as a motivator in her career. "I was meant to teach special needs children...I could not imagine doing anything else," she said.

Ms. Alexander holds a master of arts and a bachelor of arts from the University of Northern Colorado. She has also earned additional credits through the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. A lifelong learner, Ms. Alexander intends to continue her informal education as she moves into the future.
