Kimberly Selden offers her time and energy to help others acquire the answers they need
MILILANI, HI, June 11, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kimberly Kealohapau'ole Selden, Founder and Chairwoman of Hawaii Helps Disabilities, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership, and excellence in community service.
With 20 years of professional experience, Mrs. Selden specializes in public relations and marketing. She is also a dynamic public speaker with a riveting story to share. She oversees the Board of Directors, resolves Social Security issues, advocates for children with disabilities and their families, and assists disabled veterans in obtaining benefits.
Kimberly served for 3 years in the United States Navy. While serving, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and was discharged as a disabled veteran. As she sought information and assistance for her own disability, she realized that inadequate support was being offered to the disabled. She became a strong advocate. In 2008, Team Mighty Selden was honored as the Largest Team Walk for MS in Hawaii. Ultimately, she established Hawaii Helps Disabilities-a non-profit has been chartered to 1) improve the lives of all disabled people, from conception to natural death, through services, advocacy, and education; and to 2) provide services and education for parents who have children with a disability.
Mrs. Selden has completed some college coursework. She is a member of the National Association of Professional Women, Hawaii Right to Life, Multiple Sclerosis Society of America, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the University of Hawaii-Manoa Center on Disability Studies and United Spinal Association.
