Joan Yanashusky Deemed an Industry Expert in Elementary Education
Professional educator Joan Yanashusky was honored with the Governor's Teacher Recognition Award

UNION CITY, NJ, June 25, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Joan Yanashusky, Support Teacher at the Hudson School, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in elementary education.

With a professional background that spans over 40 years, Joan Yanashusky specializes in elementary education - specifically, language arts and mathematics. As a support teacher at the Hudson School, she is responsible for teaching various subjects including reading, writing and mathematics to first- through fourth-grade students. She enjoys working with children and feels a sense of gratification in watching students progress. Ms. Yanashusky attained her multi-sensory teaching skills through participation in the Orton-Gillingham Program, a method of teaching children to read using phonics. She attributes her success to the support she receives from her family and friends, and considers receiving the Governor's Teacher Recognition Award to be her greatest professional accomplishment.

A certified reading specialist, Ms. Yanashusky holds a master's degree in reading and a bachelor's degree in elementary education from New Jersey City University. She is a certified ESL teacher, and is a member of the Union City Education Association, the New Jersey Education Association and the National Education Association. She was recognized by Who's Who Among American Teachers and was named Professional of the Year in Elementary Education by Cambridge Who's Who in 2007 and 2008. More recently, she was selected for inclusion in "Cambridge Publishing's Top 101 Industry Experts" and will appear in the registry's 2011 Distinguished Professionals in America calendar, an honor reserved for exemplary professionals who are committed to advancing in their career.
