Nan R. Christian Joins the Ranks of Leading Professionals
Nan R. Christian honored for professional longevity in the field of special education administration

BRANDON, MS, March 23, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nan R. Christian, Director of Education for Hudspeth Regional Center, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in special education administration.

Nan R. Christian has 37 years of professional experience, with the last 15 of these years devoted to Hudspeth Regional Center, an intermediate care facility for mentally retarded individuals. In her current position, she is tasked primarily with overseeing all education programs for 285 individuals aged from six years to adult. Her responsibilities include managing grants and funding for those under the age of 21 and coordinating staff development and five-year education plans. She helps teachers become dual licensed in elementary and special education at Belhaven University.

Also a speech pathologist, Ms. Christian previously worked in the public schools, where she helped with the special education programs and coordinated with parents to have their children tested for speech and language difficulties. She initially gained experience as a special education coordinator and school principal. In an interview with Cambridge Who's Who, she noted that her Christian background, coupled with her education are the undisputed keys to her success. For her efforts, Cambridge named her "Professional of the Year" representing special education administration for the 2009/2010 year.

Ms. Christian holds a master's degree in speech pathology from the University of Southern Mississippi, earned in 1978 and a master's degree in administration and special education, plus 60. Licensed by the Mississippi Department of Mental Health and the Mississippi Department of Education, she intends to continue directing education programs and eventually become a consultant.
