Suzanne M. Smith Honored for Accomplishments in Special Education
Suzanne Smith celebrates 36 years as a Special Education Specialist
WINCHESTER, VA, December 23, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Suzanne M. Smith, Special Education Specialist with Frederick County Virginia Public Schools, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of special education.
Over the last three decades, Mrs. Smith's zealous involvement in helping children with special needs has defined her professional career. An expert in special education, her responsibilities have included teaching kindergartners through 12th-grade students and keeping abreast of governmental policies dealing with special education legality laws. As a seasoned educator in the Frederick County Virginia public school system, Mrs. Smith has established herself as a mentor for the new teachers in her department; her benevolence is a direct reflection of her passion for the industry.
As the West Virginia Special Olympic Coordinator, Mrs. Smith spent a great deal of time volunteering for special needs causes outside of the classroom. She has served as an individualized education plan coordinator and currently as a special education department chairwoman. Mrs. Smith received a master of education from James Madison University, and an Educational Specialist degree from George Washington University, where she is pursuing a doctorate in Special Education. She is a member of the Council for Exceptional Children, Phi Delta Kappa and the National Association of Special Education Teachers.
