Cathy Ann Carlson Honored by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Educational Services
Cathy Ann Carlson feels most satisfied helping children to develop their skills
GENESEO, IL, November 02, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cathy Ann Carlson, Parent-Child Educator in the Prevention Initiative Department for Abilities Plus, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in educational services.
Cathy Ann Carlson became involved in her profession because she had always been a teacher and loved working with children. She has nine years of experience in educational services and three years of experience as parent-child educator for Abilities Plus. She is responsible for working with children with delayed learning abilities to prepare them for preschool, and teaching parents how to work with and help their children in developmental domains. She also conducts visits to local libraries to inform people of the company's program. The most gratifying aspect of her vocation is having the opportunity to observe children talk, walk and efficiently develop skills that they could not before. Prior to joining Abilities Plus, from 2006 to 2008 Ms. Carlson worked as assistant general manager for Culver's. She also worked as a substitute teacher for the hearing impaired, physically handicapped and special education students, from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, for six years. Presently, Ms. Carlson is also an independent Mary Kay business owner.
Ms. Carlson attributes her success to her faith in Christ. She received a bachelor of science in music education in 1974 from Northern Illinois University. In 2006, she became a licensed Food Service Sanitation Manager. She is a member of the Illinois Farm Bureau. In 1988, Ms. Carlson was the recipient of the Henry County Farm Bureau Woman of the Year Award.
Abilities Plus is a nonprofit organization that provides social services and care for children up to age 3 with delayed learning abilities and services for adult clients.
