Karen Riel Honored by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Social Services
Karen Riel uses her business skills for the good as a founding director of a local winter shelter

PORT HADLOCK, WA, October 07, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Karen Riel, Director and Treasurer of Community Outreach Association Shelter Team, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in social services.

An expert in business development, Karen Riel uses her talents for a good cause as a director and treasurer of Community Outreach Association Shelter Team. Currently thriving in her sixth year with the nonprofit association, she is entrusted with a number of important tasks. These include overseeing budgets and fundraising, organizing a volunteer group of over 400 individuals, coordinating outside efforts to run the shelter, and collaborating with volunteers from local organizations. Ms. Riel traces the beginnings of her career in the nonprofit sector to her admiration of the former Archbishop of Seattle, who inspired her to help others. She considers assisting troubled individuals and families to be the most rewarding aspect of her career. She attributes her success to her business skills, which have enabled her to serve the needy and give glory to God.

Ms. Riel earned her master's degree in 1983 from San Francisco Theological Seminary and her bachelor of education in 1961 from Seattle University. She is a member of the Historical Society and sits on an Advisory Council of a well-known charity. In five years, Ms. Riel aspires to build permanent facilities for Community Outreach Association Shelter Team.
