Rosanna L. Michela Named Professional of the Year in Social Work
Rosanna L. Michela is proud to be doing what she loves most -- making a difference in others' lives through child services
GLENMONT, NY, December 15, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rosanna L. Michela, Child Protective Case Worker in the Long-Term Care Division of the Albany County Department for Children, Youth & Families, has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Social Work. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.
Distinguished by over three decades of service in the field of social work, Rosanna L. Michela specializes in long-term family care, child placement and children's rights. Thriving in her 23rd year as Case Worker for the Albany County Department of Children, Youth & Families, she is responsible for conducting home visits to ensure the health and safety of children. She also deals with the family court, works to reunite families, coordinates with other agencies on behalf of children and their families and schedules services on a round-the-clock basis. Her commitment to social work has been recognized with two nominations as Employee of the Month and Ms. Michela credits the support of her parents, friends and colleagues for her success.
In an exclusive interview with Cambridge Publishing, Ms. Michela noted that she initially had her mind set on becoming a school teacher. After some reflection, however, she decided that social work would most allow her to help families. She started in the field as an examiner and progressed toward a case worker position. Today, she is happy to be doing what she loves most - making a difference in others' lives. Remembering a little girl whom she had helped to enter school after being taken away from her mother, who suffered from cerebral palsy, and entered into foster care, Ms. Michela was proud to learn that the girl had went on to graduate from high school, and later, college. She intends to continue on in this fashion as she moves forward in her career.
This year, Ms. Michela was chosen as Cambridge Publishing's Professional of the Year in Social Work. Recognized for her professional dedication and contributions to humanity, she was one among a selected few to be chosen for such an honor.
