Maria T. Johnson Joins the Ranks of Leading Professionals
Maria T. Johnson has raised millions of dollars for nonprofit organizations in the Baltimore area

BALTIMORE, MD, October 9, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Maria T. Johnson, Vice President of Advancement at the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in community development.

With 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, Ms. Johnson excels in fundraising. As the Vice President of Advancement for the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland, she is responsible for overseeing fund development, communications and production services, managing a staff of nine, promoting communication work, and the design and production of material, as well as fundraising and donor relations. Motivated by the social service field during college, Ms. Johnson gained experience managing events and catering services for Cornell University for two years. She attributes her success to her genuine belief in the good of all people and that individuals can and do make a difference.

Ms. Johnson received her Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in psychology from Dickinson College in 1989. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the National Committee on Planned Giving and the Chesapeake Planned Giving Council. In 2009, she was named among the Top 100 Women in Maryland by The Daily Record and the Top 40 Under 40 by the Baltimore Business Journal in 2006. She serves as a co-chairwoman of Capital Campaign and is a former president of the Junior League of Baltimore. She also serves on the boards of the Village Learning Place and the Govanstowne Business Association. From 2003 to 2004, she was a tutor for at-risk children and the president of the Hampden Family Center. Ms. Johnson hopes to become an executive director for a nonprofit organization.
