Marsha M. Nix Honored for Excellence in Middle School Education
Marsha M. Nix received both the Character Teacher of the Month Award and the Teacher of the Year Award in 2008
Saint George, SC, June 26, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marsha Nix, an English Language Arts teacher for Dorchester School District Four's St. George Middle School, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in middle school education.
Marsha M. Nix has been teaching seventh grade ELA since shortly after receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from South Carolina State University in 2002. Students and parents alike appreciate her teaching and counseling abilities which were further enhanced when she received her Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Literacy, Reading and Writing from Lesley University in 2007. In addition to her work for SGMS, Ms. Nix actively participates in the District's Teacher's Forum.
A recipient of the Rookie Teacher of the Year Award in 2003, Ms. Nix attributes her rapid success to the work ethic instilled in her by her mother, grandmother, aunt, and cousin. She is a member of Pi Lambda Theta and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and counts the Lowcountry Food Bank, The Humane Society of the United States and various local charitable organizations among her favorite charities. She plans to continue teaching and building relationships with her colleagues and students.
