Janice Gehrman Recognized for Excellence in Primary Education
Janice Gehrman retires after 20 years of professional dedication to the Chicago Board of Education
SAINT CHARLES, IL, June 6, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Janice Gehrman, Retired Teacher for the Chicago Board of Education, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of education.
Ms. Gehrman has 20 years of professional experience in language arts, reading instruction, teaching all subjects for third-grade students, mentoring, counseling, advising, taking students on trips and coordinating cultural events, chorus, drama groups, music and arts. She retired in 1993 and became involved in the church choir and a program called 'At Home Tutor' which provides workshops for parents on how to help children at home. She attributes her success to her love for her profession and her eagerness to learn.
A member of the American Association of University Women, Ms. Gehrman received her Master of Education in Guidance and Counseling from DePaul University. She received the Illinois Distinguished Educator Award as well as the Most Dedicated Teacher Award from the Chicago Parent Teacher Association. In 1990, she received the Milken National Educator Award.
