TROY, MI, March 12, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Friends of Jacob Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, presents its inaugural fundraising event "Dancing for a Difference". This event will benefit families of Autistic and other special needs children in the greater Metro Detroit area. Founder and President Keith Malec invites you to this non-traditional fundraising event, which is based on an evening full of dancing to the grooviest 70's and awesome 80's music in town.
The event kicks off the start of National Autism month in April and celebrates the recent establishment of The Friends of Jacob Foundation. The ambitious and growing group of energetic members within the organization are building a support network for families with autistic and other special needs children; sharing journeys, recommending doctors, supplements and therapies, and perhaps most of all, providing a sense of community.
The Friends of Jacob Foundation's inaugural fundraising event will be held Thursday, March 26th, 2009 at the popular retro Club 22 in Shelby Township, Michigan with a VIP reception beginning at 7:00pm and doors opening for general admission at 8:00pm. The evening will feature performances by the Square Pegz and Boogie Dynomite and attendees are strongly encouraged to wear there favorite 70's or 80's attire.. Ticket prices for this event are $55 per person for VIP admission, $45 per person for general admission. There are also a limited number of reserved VIP tables available for purchase. Tickets can be purchased directly from: www.FriendsofJacob.org.

"Families raising children with autism and other special needs have so many common challenges, which include rising health care costs, respite care, various therapies, special dietary needs, and all the other daily stresses of raising children. The need to create an outreach community that connects families while sharing knowledge and courage is now. Our Foundation is ready to help by providing these families with extra care and support," states Keith Malec, founder and President of the Friends of Jacob Foundation. "With our first goal being to provide a family vacation, which isn't something that most families raising a child with special needs enjoy, we strengthen the health and positive development of the entire family."
Keith, and his wife, Jodi, both lifelong residents of Michigan, hope to bring together families with special needs children and give them the ultimate family vacation; a trip to Disney World. Named in honor of their seven-year-old son, Jacob, who has both autism and cognitive impairments, the Foundation will turn dreams into realities, challenges into achievements, and give families, who deserve it the most, the experience of a lifetime.
