/Childrens Issues News Articles/ - Jackson, TN, August 29, 2008, Gwendolyn W. Thomas, Teacher at Memphis City Schools, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of teaching.

With more than 33 years of professional experience, Ms. Thomas excels in teaching special education, elementary education, teaching grades one through nine, music and arts for students from the first through 12th grades. Her primary responsibilities include fundraising, counseling, teaching students with behavior problems and educable mental retardation, and working with emotionally disturbed as well as regular education students. Ms. Thomas has received numerous awards, which include the Emancipation Award, Student Chapter Excellence Award, Woman and Youth Award, Basileus of the Year Award, Soror of the Year Award, and Youth Service Award. She has also been nominated for inclusion in Who's Who Among American Teachers and Who's Who Among American Women.

Ms. Thomas holds a Master of Science in Special Education and Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education for grades one through nine. She is affiliated with the Tennessee Education Association, the National Education Association, the Memphis Education Association, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and Phi Delta Kappa Sorority. Ms. Thomas volunteers with the American Cancer Society and Boys and Girls Club of America. She looks forward to continuing her professional growth.
