/Childrens Issues News Articles/ - Charleston, WV, June 11, 2008, Jacqueline A. Switzer, Assistant Principal for Kanawha County School District, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in educational administration.
Ms. Switzer has 22 years of professional experience and six years of experience as an assistant principal for Kanawha County School District. She excels in resolving conflicts and teaching anger management, and is responsible for helping students in tutoring programs, organizing behavior adjustment classes, observing and mentoring teachers, and arranging field trips. Prior to taking on her current position, Ms. Switzer worked as a Community Education Coordinator in a high school and as an English and Latin teacher. Throughout her career, she has placed emphasis on listening to her students and treating them with kindness and caring. For her, the most rewarding aspect of her work is having former students return to tell her what a difference she has made in their lives. She attributes her success to her upbringing and the inspiration she received from her own teachers.
Ms. Switzer received her undergraduate degree from Nazareth College of Rochester, New York, and earned a Master's Degree in Industrial Relations and a Master's in Instructional Communications from West Virginia University. In addition to her work for the school system, she makes her contributions to the community as the former president of Keep A Child in School, former chairman of the Youth Task Force of the Charleston Public Safety Council, and board member of the Children's Therapy Clinic and Charleston Community Music. Ms. Switzer is also a founder and former executive director of the West Virginia Center for Dispute Resolution. Though reluctant to leave administration, she would consider making a return to teaching on the college level. A published author, Ms. Switzer penned "Life with 'Father': One Man's Journey into Light...and Love," which chronicles the courtship, through letters, that went on between herself and her late husband, who was a Roman Catholic priest, and their happy 24 years together with their six children.
An authority on education administration, Ms. Switzer is available to speak with the media. She may be contacted through email at jacq966@yahoo.com.
