/Childrens Issues News Articles/ - Austin, TX, May 1, 2008, LoBerta Carol Davis, Elementary Music Teacher for Pillow Elementary School, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in music education.
Ms. Davis started in music at the tender age of four, when she was recommended to take piano lessons to rehabilitate her back following an accident. This not only helped heal her back but instilled in her a lifelong passion for music—since then, she has written songs, given piano lessons and taught music. As a teacher in Texas for the last 28 years, she has provided music and dance instruction to students from kindergarten to the fifth grade. Ms. Davis finds deep personal satisfaction in working with young people, bringing the joy of music into their lives and encouraging them to pursue their dreams. She attributes her success as a music teacher to her twin passions for music and children.
An alumna of Wayland Baptist University, Ms. Davis holds a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, with concentration in Music, as well as a special degree for teaching piano from Washington University. She expects to retire within five years, at which point she intends to give private lessons and promote music programs in different schools. Ms. Davis believes that music programs are essential to the education of children and is very concerned whenever they are among the first programs to be cut when budgets are tight.
Ms. Davis is available to speak with the media on the value of music education in the school system, and may be contacted through email at harmelony@hotmail.com.
