Nominees for the World of Children Humanitarian and Health Awards must have been working on behalf of children over and above their normal employment and have been engaged in their efforts for a minimum of 10 years.

Nominations for the 2008 World of Children Awards must be submitted by midnight on Wednesday, April 30, 2008. Recipients of the 2008 World of Children Awards will be officially announced and celebrated in New York City on Thursday, November 13, 2008.

"Each year World of Children searches the globe for ordinary people who have done extraordinary good on behalf of children in need," said Harry Leibowitz, World of Children's founder and chairman, "World of Children Award honorees are a remarkable example of the tremendous impact just one individual can have on the world."

Since 1998, World of Children has awarded more than $2 million in cash grants to 70 honorees in over 35 countries, on six continents. Recent World of Children Award honorees have led programs to rescue children from drug cartels in Peru, combat child sex slavery in Taiwan, build innovative schools for street children in India, prevent child starvation in Malawi, fight to abolish female genital mutilation in Africa and prevent teen smoking by fighting Big Tobacco's efforts to target children in developing countries.
